Chris Brown’s “Sensational” features Afrobeats artists Davido and Lojay in their Hot 100 debuts

Thanks to their featured credits on Chris Brown’s “Sensational,” Davido and Lojay both make their debuts on the Billboard Hot 100.

Released on October 20 by CBE/RCA Records, the song debuted at No. 96 on the Hot 100 (dated February 3). According to Luminate, during the Jan. 19–25 tracking week, it had 2.6 million official U.S. streams (up 3%) and 15.7 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 14%).

November saw the release of Brown’s 11th studio album, 11:11, which included this song as its second single. At No. 1 on Top R&B Albums and No. 9 on the Billboard 200, the collection made its debut and reached its peak.

“Sensational” has been steadily gaining airplay across a variety of radio formats. It debuted at No. 30 on Adult R&B Airplay, rose 11–9 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, 16–10 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, and 16–14 on Rhythmic Airplay. It pushed 49–44 on the all-format Radio Songs chart.

Born in Osun State, Nigeria, Davido has emerged as one of the most well-known Afrobeats performers of the last ten years. Throughout his career, he has put out four studio albums: Timeless (March 2023), A Better Time (2020), Omo Baba Olowo (2012), and A Good Time (2019). His two most recent albums made their debuts on the chart when they peaked at Nos. 170 and 37 on the Billboard 200, respectively.

Additionally, Davido has 25 tracks listed on the US Afrobeats tracks chart on Billboard. As of the list’s 2022 premiere, that ranks fourth among all musicians, behind only Burna Boy (44), Asake (34) and Wizkid (27). Three of those twenty-five singles made it into the top ten: “Over Dem” (No. 10, 2023); “Unavailable,” featuring Musa Keys (No. 3, 2023); and “Stand Strong,” featuring Sunday Service Choir (No. 9 in 2022).

Since 2016, Davido has placed 27 singles on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales list, with 18 of those reaching the top 10. After Wizkid (29), that is the second-most among Afrobeats musicians.

Brown and Davido have already collaborated on several songs before “Sensational.”
