Niyi Akinmolayan's Documentary " Rainmakers" will debut on Prime this March.

This March, Prime will show “Rainmakers,” a documentary by Niyi Akinmolayan.

This year’s first quarter will see the new title released directly into streaming services.

However the CEO and creator of Anthill Studios, Niyi Akinmolayan, has shared fresh information about Rainmakers, his most recent film project.

A few behind-the-scenes photos from the project, which he finished in 2022, were posted by the filmmaker on Instagram. Rainmakers will premiere on Prime Video on March 1, 2024, even though the official trailer hasn’t been released yet.

Regarding the rainmaker myth in southern Nigeria, the title refers to a documentary. Akinmolayan disclosed that during his visit to Ogun, Oyo, and Edo, he challenged the assumptions held about his ability to regulate the rain using scientific means.

According to him, “I did all the necessary rituals and learnt a lot about rainmaking and the all-powerful Sango. Deity there’s so much I’m going to share as we countdown to the release. Is rainmaking real or just a trick!! Find out soon.”

This maintains the long-standing partnership between Amazon Prime and Akinmolayan after a short theatrical run, Anthill Studios’ first kid. Focused project, Mikolo, was just launched on Prime Video.

Filmed in the mountains of Ondo State, it delves into themes of adventure, friendship, family, and societal ideals. It centers on the lives of two youngsters who go on an enchanted forest adventure centered around an old Yoruba story.

Pamilerin Adegooke (12) and Fiyinfoluwa Asenuga (8) are part of the cast. The remaining main cast members are Ayo Mogaji, Yvonne Jegede, Riyo David, Yomi Elesho, Femi Adebayo, and Daniel Etim-Effiong.

Further the documentary, which was filmed in the southwest of the country, centers on the southern Nigerian legend of the rainmaker. Akinmolayan travels to Ogun, Oyo, and Edo, believing he has the ability to control the rain, in order to verify the beliefs using scientific means.

He claimed, “As we get closer to the release, I’m going to share a lot of information about the all-powerful Sango deity and rainmaking. I completed all the required rituals.” Is rainmaking a hoax or something real? Learn soon.
