Nollywood loses veteran actress Cynthia Okereke at age 63.😭😭

Nollywood, the famous name for the Nigerian film industry, is in grief at the passing of Cynthia Okereke, one of its stars.
At the age of 63, the actress, who was well-known for her work in both Igbo and English films, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Life and career of her
In Nigeria’s Enugu State, The lady was born on April 20, 1960. She debuted in the 1998 film King Jaja of Opobo after joining Nollywood.
Then later appeared in more than 100 films, including Katakata, Professor John Bull, Nwando, Osuofia in London, and Coronation.
It was praised for her professionalism, talent, and adaptability. She portrayed a variety of roles, including a grandmother, an evil mother-in-law, and a comic relief. She appeared on TV alongside a number of legendary actors from the business, including Patience Ozokwor, Nkem Owoh, Chiwetalu Agu, John Okafor, and others.
Her supported a number of organizations and endeavors and was also an entrepreneur and philanthropist. For her amazing performances and contributions to Nollywood, she received numerous nominations and awards.

Death of Cynthia and tributes
Many of her admirers and coworkers were shocked to learn of her passing. She reportedly passed away in her sleep from an unidentified illness. Mr. Emma Onyemeziem, the head of the Actors Guild of Nigeria’s Delta State chapter, verified her death.
Her death also occurred a year after she and another actor, Clemson Cornel, were taken hostage while filming in Enugu. Later, their kidnappers freed them unharmed.
Many Nollywood actors and actresses posted condolences and tributes to the late actress on social media.
Popular YouTuber and actor Joseph Okechukwu posted the following on his Instagram account:
“Nwanyi oma, REST IN PEACE. I’m beyond words broken. One of the hardest things I’ve recently had to cope with was the fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come finish what we started only to learn that you gone to be with Lord just last night.
The actress had been “such an amazing, decent and lovely soul to be around” for more than 20 years, according to him, who also commended that.
Her husband, kids, grandchildren, and other family members continue to live. Both her supporters and the Nollywood community will miss her dearly.
