Veteran Nollywood performer Pete Edochie has explained why he chose acting over broadcasting.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Pete Edochie said that his first acting gig earned him a salary of N50,000.
He claimed that the remuneration drove him get into acting with both feet because he had just lost his radio. Position owing to internal conflicts and religious disagreements.
“I was sitting there with her in the parlour when someone from Lagos came to give me a check for $50,000 to make a film,” Pete Edochie recalled.
The actor claimed that persuading his wife that he had to quit broadcasting to pursue acting was simple.
“I told my wife my work was done,” he stated. She gave me a big hug, got me a beer, and said, “Pete, you’ve always wanted to be an actor; the time has come.” At the time, I was making $9,000 per month as a director.
