Popular Nigerian Comedian and Entertainer, Basket Mouth(Bright Okpocha) announces divorce with his wife, Elsie after 12 years of marriage.
Bright Okpocha has announced that he and his wife, Elsie Uzoma Okpocha, are divorcing after 12 years of marriage.
The veteran comedian made the announcement on Thursday released through an emotional post on his verified Facebook and Instagram pages.
In the statement, Bright Okpocha announces his divorce was taken with a heavy heart. Certainly he added that both of them would continue to work together in caring for their children from time to time while requesting the public to respect their privacy during this challenging time.
Furthermore the statement reads: “As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is also an unavoidable situation.
After much deliberation, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.
Despite as we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance, and support surely they need.
We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you.” Basket Mouth and Elsie have been married since 2010, and have three children together, Janelle, Jason, and Maya Okpocha. However, the veteran comedian already had a child with another lady before he got married to his wife after all.
The news of the divorce has left many people surprised and shocked by the Nigerian entertainment industry. As the couple had always seemed happy and strong together. It is not yet known why the couple decided to go their separate ways.
In fact Basket Mouth is one of Nigeria’s most successful comedians. He first dabbled in comedy in the year 1995 and has been in the industry for over 20 years. He has been nominated for several awards, including the Best Comedian at the 2014 Africa Movie Academy Awards.
