Popular Yoruba Actress Sidikat Odunkanwi populaly known as Iyabo Ojo is reported dead after a prolonged illness.

Iyabo Oko, a veteran Yoruba actress known as Sidikat Odunkanwi, has passed away.

The 62-year-old actress, who played a significant role in the Yoruba film community, had been battling illness for some time but appeared to be on the mend.

She allegedly passed away on June 28, 2023, a Wednesday.

Her famous daughter Bisi Aisha said on her facebook page that Iyabo Oko passed away on Wednesday night.

“May (yo)ur soul Rest In Peace mummy,” she inscribed.

Remember how, the previous year, the actress was reported to be dead for days before Bisi Aisha revealed that her mother was still alive?

Iyabo Oko’s death has also been verified by well-known actress Foluke Daramola-Salako, who is known for honoring and. Promoting elderly actors and looking out for their wellbeing.

“And finally we lost her,” Daramola-Salako posted on her Instagram page. Iyabo Oko, tear. We tried our best, but God is the best.

The veteran was born on November 15, 1960, in the then-current Osun State’s Iwo Local Government Area.

Among Sidikat’s aliases were “Iyabo Oko,” “Apoti Aje,” and “Sisi Mama.”

One of her daughters, Olamide, revealed last year that although her mother had been diagnosed with an ischemic stroke roughly five years earlier, she had kept her medical conditions a secret.

She has previously received financial support from her coworkers, Yoruba movie actresses like Iyabo Ojo, Bolaji Amusan, Mercy Aigbe, Foluke Daramola, and Biodun Okeowo, among others.
