Following her refusal of a host’s offer of a drink, she made this unexpected admission during a recent interview on. The well-liked Zero Conditions Podcast.
The host was surprised and inquired whether she had given up drinking. She replied that she had, saying that it wasn’t hard because she had only begun in 2021.
Teni was prompted to give her origin story by the host’s surprise.
“I started drinking for fun, and the first time was in Lagos,” she said, “I started drinking in 2021. I’m a naturally adventurous person. I’ve been in this industry for six years without drinking or smoking.”
“At home, I wondered, ‘You guys seem to always be drinking; how does that feel?'” So I drank Henny, but I didn’t get wasted. Let me just try it. I went to bed after waiting for it to happen but it didn’t.
Everyone exclaimed, “Aaah, Teni.”
Teni continued by explaining that she abstained from drinking even while attending the University of Georgia in the United States, where she was under continual pressure to do so.
“I didn’t consume alcohol when I was a student. Are you aware of the school I attended? I defied the overwhelming urge to drink at the University of Georgia, a football school, but I didn’t. I just ever carry out my desires. The singer continued, “I normally hold a cup of juice or water in all the films and sketches where I do this.
This information was made public following Teni’s July 2023 diagnosis of a potentially fatal throat illness that caused momentary voice loss.
In September 2023, following surgery and a hospital stay, she made the decision to give up alcohol and stay away from anything that would jeopardize her singing voice once more.
